1.Overview of Department activities:-
Attending emergency services 24 hours
Out patient days Tuesday and Friday 9am- 11am Room no- 5
Inpatient days- daily admissions from casualty/ Paediatrics
Operation days :
Electives--Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
Emergency--everyday
2.List of Services:-
A wide range of surgical procedures are done in the department, which include
Congenital diaphragmatic hernia,
Tracheo oesophageal fistula,
Meconium ileus,
Cloacal extrophy,
Hepatobiliary-pancreatic Surgeries
GI/Bowel Surgeries
Anorectal /Imperforate anus surgeries
Hirschsprung`s disease / Neurocristopathy
Abdominal Wall defects like Omphalocele/Gastroschisis
Thoracic / Lung /Mediastinal surgeries
Oncosurgeries --Sacrococcygeal teratoma, Wilm’s tumor, hepatoblastoma, ovarian tumors, testicular tumors, lymphomas;
Laparoscopic/MAS
Esophageal atresia/Tracheoesophageal fistula
Surgeries on gut like - Volvulus etc /intussception
Hydrocele/Inguinal hernia repair
Umbilical Hernia Repair
Undescended Testis Surgery
Haemangiomas/Lymphangiomas
Lymphnode Biopsy
Others- Frenulectomy/Labial adhesions/Branchial Cysts/Sinuses
Paediatric Urology- like antenatally detected hydronephrosis cystoscopy, pyeloplasty, nephrectomy, duplex kidney,ureteric reimplantation, bladder abnormalities, posterior urethral valves, hypospadias, epispadias, phimosis, torsion testis, penile abnormalities
Neonatal surgeries like intestinal atresia, neonatal intestinal obstruction,
Soft tissue covers of hand and leg defects due to trauma
Dog bite injuries
Blunt trauma chest and abdomen
Penetrating trauma chest and abdomen
Emergency assistance in Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, General surgery surgeries

1. The Department acquired one Computer for academic purpose.

it is serving all the teaching needs of both undergraduates and post graduates like taking regular theory classes, conducting seminars, CME. This seminar hall is also utilized for the academic activities of other Departments of Rangaraya Medical College and Government General Hospital, Kakinada. This air conditioned hall is equipped with comfortable seating arrangement and number of Text Books and various national and international journals for students and used as library room for post graduate students
