Postgraduate Diploma course was started in 1972 and Postgraduate Degree in 1977.
3 (three) M.S. and 3 Diploma students were getting admitted per year till the year 2009.
It was increased to six (6) Postgraduate Degree M.S. and one (1)Diploma from the year 2010-11 under Dr.N.T.R.University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.
Now it has been enhanced to eight(8) Postgraudate Degree M.S., and one (1) Diploma from the year 2016-17 under Dr.N.T.R.Univeristy of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.
Regular Teaching Programme for Postgraduates, Undergraduates and Para Medical Ophthalmic Assistants being conducted in the department.
Every Fridays issue of Visually Handicapped Certificates in the department.
Para Medical Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistant Course was started in 2003 and every year 5 students are admitted for Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistant Course (2 years)
