ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES OF COMMUNITY DEPARTMENT

• Health information captured from primary and secondary care is available for undergraduates for teaching data analysis and basic statistics. Community Medicine Department of Rangaraya Medical College provides skill training for interns and research opportunities for postgraduates in Primary and Secondary Care through a network of health care professionals in a rural health centre and two Community health centers. Students pursuing Medical and allied courses, B.Sc.nursing students and Physiotherapy students were taught and trained by the faculty. Community surveys and visits to the existing health facilities of different levels were conducted for the students as part of the Family Adoption Program (FAP) , as prescribed by the NMC.
• Clinical postings are scheduled for the second and third professional years to teach about the clinic-social case studies and to expose to the functioning of the Anganwadi centre, Sub-centre, Primary Health Centre and the Rural Health and Training centre affiliated to the Medical college.
• Out Reach Activities- Health Clinics-Weekly once morbidity clinic is conducted every wednesday.Main users are patients with non communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension
• Preventive Activities-Hepatitis B Vaccination clinic conducted on every Saturday in the department of community medicine
