HISTORY OF PATHOLOGY DEPARTMENT
The department was started on 1-8-1960 by Dr. D. Sundarasiva Rao garu who later moulded the college in a grand manner as the PRINCIPAL for 7 years (1970 to 1977).
Dr. Shankar Banerjea, one of the founders of the department established the recent methodology in diagnosis from 1962 to 1992.
Dr. A.V. KRISHNAM RAJU has worked from 1976 to 2007 has renovated & upgraded the department by getting the MCI recognition for PG Courses.

Three undergraduate laboratories with audio-visual facilities are established in the department to accommodate the 250 students
A well maintained Dr Shankar Banerjea conference hall was established and utilised for PG and UG academic programmes and internal meetings
A Dr Shankar Banerjea memorial museum with more than 300 specimens is established in ground floor.
Professor J.B.S. HALDANE MUSEUM (Skeleton, Organs & Life history) was established in the department through the courtesy of GODAVARI GENETICS SOCIETY, KAKINADA as a permanent monument in the institution near the Central Library entrance.
Our department was a part of national cancer registry from 2003 onwards and presented data in national NCRP conferences. Dr RVijay bhaskar and Dr R. Rajyalakshmi.
